In 1942 in Warsaw's ghetto, an Aryan washerwoman is rehired by the Jewish woman she worked for before the war, to take her young daughter to the countryside until the war is over. The rude maid takes full advantage of the situation by allowing the desperate woman to shower her with gifts and money before she'll take the child away. The maid and child leave by train, but it's stopped, and they have to proceed on foot. The innocent youngster and the maid begin to develop a strong bond, and by the time they are stopped by a German patrol, the woman is prepared to risk her life for the child. In Polish with English subtitles.
