Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting) returns to his experimental roots with    this existential look at two men named Gerry (Casey Affleck and Matt Damon)      who are hopelessly lost in the desert without food or water. Largely             unscripted with sparse, improvised dialogue, the film follows the pair on      their long walk through the barren terrain of Death Valley, beautifully and    hypnotically filmed by Harris Savides.
