Description

The husband-and-wife directorial team of Ewa and Czeslaw Petelski, who were known for historical and biographical dramas, offer an epic retelling of the Battle of Kolberg near the end of WWII, in which the Polish allies and the Soviet army joined forces to take the city from the Nazis. The story of the battle is seen through the experiences of Victor, a young officer promoted to commander, Podarzyn, a corporal, and Krecki, Podarzyn's superior. The hopes and dreams of each character are revealed as the big battle approaches. Red Rowan (Jarzebina Czerwona) is a fierce retelling of an important event in Polish history with a stellar performance by Andrzej Lapicki (Pan Tadeusz). In Polish with English subtitles.
