Description

Things I Left in Havana is a colorful, lively look at intertwining relationships in Spain.

With Things I Left in Havana (1997), director Manuel Gutierrez Aragon concocts a lively and heartfelt portrait of immigration. Empathetic but never sappy, the film finds a trio of sisters moving from Cuba to Spain, dealing with all of the cultural and personal clashes that follow.

After moving in with their aunt in Madrid, the women adapt to their new lives while encountering love triangles, a captivating play starring one of the sisters and the poor yet cunning fellow immigrant, Igor. Things I Left in Havana winds up stirring disparate cultures and characters into a singular cinematic experience.
