Marlon Brando stars alongside Stephanie Beacham and Thora Hind in this imagined prequel to Henry James' Turn of the Screw. It's a twisted little thriller, with Brando playing Quint, a gardener at an estate with two young orphans in residence. The impressionable children adore the strange man, so much so that when they see him "nightcoming" with a nurse (Beacham), the kids plot the two lovers' demise.

BREAKING AND ENTERING

The last feature directed by the late Anthony Minghella finds him working again with English Patient star Juliette Binoche, but on a smaller scale. This London-set melodrama stars Jude Law as a bougie architect with a detached wife (Robin Wright Penn) and a big studio space in a seedier neighborhood. After a string of robberies in the district, he catches a Bosnian punk in the act, makes a citizen's arrest, and brings the kid home to his unexpectedly beautiful mother (Binoche). He falls for her, a steamy affair ensues, but it's unclear if the poor woman's affections are mutual or for her son's sake. With Martin Freeman and Rafi Gavron.
