1941 (SPEC EDITION-DRCTRS CUT)
Our Price: $14.98
Out of Stock

This epic-sized comedy about panic gripping Los Angeles in the days after        Pearl Harbor was bombed is one of Steven Spielberg's most atypical films. A      massive, all-star farce in the mode of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World,    the film is a cartoonish exaggeration of a true incident--an overzealous       defense effort after a Japanese submarine was spotted off the California       coast. The lengthy list of stars includes Dan Aykroyd, Ned Beatty, John        Belushi, Christopher Lee, Toshiro Mifune, Warren Oates, Robert Stack, Treat      Williams, John Candy and many others. The film was the most expensive comedy   ever made up to the year of its release and, despite its initial poor          reception by critics and the public, it has developed a loyal following over   the years. The script was written by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, and John      Milius contributed to the original story. This restored, director's cut        includes 26 minutes that were not included in the original theatrical release. Steven Spielberg---USA---1979---146 mins.
A.I. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Our Price: $14.95
Out of Stock

Steven Spielberg's most daring and provocative work to date is an urgent vision of the present masquerading as a futuristic fable. A robot is designed with physical and emotional characteristics so close to human that his/its very existence raises questions about the distinctions between human and mechanical life. Programmed to serve as a surrogate child, this creation (played superbly by Haley Joel Osment), is ultimately rejected, sending him on a Pinocchio-inspired odyssey to become a "real" boy. Far from a comforting fairy tale, however, A.I. sparks disturbing questions about where we stand in our age of cloning and computer "viruses." Initiated by      Stanley Kubrick and inherited by Spielberg, the film presents an unlikely and successful synthesis of the styles of both filmmakers. Steven Spielberg---USA---2001---145 mins.

The movie that kept millions away from the ocean, turned Steven Spielberg into a household name, and defined the modern movie blockbuster. In case you've just emerged from a cave somewhere, it's about a shark with a tendency to snack on swimmers and fishermen. An incredibly suspenseful and entertaining film that remains one of Spielberg's best directing efforts. John Williams' music for the approaching shark, like Bernard Herrmann's score for Psycho, is masterfully simple and instantly recognizable. With Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Steven Spielberg's Oscar-nominated drama functions as both a suspenseful         action thriller and an intelligent, complex meditation on the moral              implications of terrorism and revenge. Spielberg follows a top secret Mossad unit,    led by the idealistic Avner (Eric Bana), on an assignment to track down and    kill Palestinians involved in the Munich massacre. As the body count rises and   the mission's aims grow cloudy, Avner begins to question his country's         ruthless bid for justice.
