America's corporate avenger and cinematic muckraker Michael Moore (Roger &    Me) documents his 1996 Downsize This! book tour across the USA. Filmmaker, activist and social critic Michael Moore takes aim at America's trigger-happy gun culture in this equally amusing and powerful documentary.  Moore's fearless quest for answers and accountability takes him everywhere from Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado to the home of NRA front-man Charlton Heston and even led one target, K-Mart, to change its policy in regards to gun sales. This disarmingly (no pun intended) frank look into an American obsession was awarded an Oscar for Best Documentary Film and the 55th Anniversary Prize at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival. Oscar-winner Michael Moore (Bowling for Columbine) creates one of filmdom's most controversial documentaries with this charged polemic on the presidency of George W. Bush and the war in Iraq. Moore investigates the ties between the Bush White House, the Saudi government, and the family of terrorist Osama bin Laden, the White House's lack of pre-9/11 preparedness and concern in regards to terrorism, and the administration's co-opting of America's post-9/11 fear and insecurity in order to wage an unjustified war on the Iraqi people. The whirlwind of facts and accusations come to an emotional  head when the results of such political tomfoolery are revealed through first-hand accounts from disillusioned troops on the frontlines in Iraq, unsettling battle footage and the heartbreaking story of a mother who lost her son in battle. A powerful, must-see film. Winner of the Palme d'Or at the 2004 Michael Moore---USA---2004---126 mins.

Michael Moore was back in the headlines after Fahrenheit 9/11 with this    less vitriolic, more focused documentary about the crumbling American            healthcare system. The thesis of his polemic is this: places like Canada,        Great Britain, France, even Guantanamo Bay enjoy universal healthcare, while   the majority of Americans struggle with HMO nightmares, inflated costs, and    inferior care in what is essentially a profit-oriented health-insurance        industry. And it will keep getting sicker and sicker, so long as politicians     take donations from the HMOs. The filmmaker's trips abroad to easily           accessible hospitals are juxtaposed with maddening stories of American         patients buried in debt and doctors who can't operate on dying patients. After the film's completion, Moore was famously investigated by the U.S. government    for taking ailing 9/11 rescue workers to Cuba for respiratory treatments.      Michael Moore---USA---2007---113 mins.
