ADVENTURES OF HERCULES
Our Price: $34.99
Out of Stock

O.K., so two of the movies in this collection have nothing to do with            Hercules. If you're a true fan of "sword and sandals" epics you won't mind a     bit. Brawny heroes show their mighty strength in seven guilty pleasures. Jayne   Mansfield and husband Mickey Hargitay star in Hercules vs. the Hydra     (Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia, 1960, 93 mins.); Mark Forrest flexes his muscles in Hercules vs. the Sons of the Sun (Osvaldo Civirani, 1964, 89 mins.) and  Lion of Thebes (Giorgio Ferroni, 1964, 87 mins.); Steve Reeves and Joh  n  Drew Barrymore star in Trojan Horse (Giorgio Ferroni, 1962, 104 mins.);  Dan Vadis revels in the Triumph of Hercules (Alberto De Martino, 1964,   90 mins.); Richard Harrison and Anna Ranalli strut their stuff in Medusa    vs. the Son of Hercules (Alberto De Martino, 1962, 90 mins.) ; and for  mer   "Tarzan" Gordon Scott stars in Hercules vs. the Moloch (Giorgio Ferroni, 1963, 98 mins.). All dubbed in English.
CAESAR THE CONQUEROR

CENTURION
Our Price: $26.98
Out of Stock

This fits in the same generic sword-and-savagery category as 300 and Pathfinder, but this action adventure from Neil Marshall (The Descent) is not just a good genre movie, it's a good movie. A Roman legion is defeated by barbarians, leaving a small band of centurions to run for their lives in a strange land that their pursuers know frighteningly well.
CLASH OF THE TITANS (2010)
Our Price: $28.98
Out of Stock

Critics didn't have many kind things to say about this blockbuster adaptation of the 1981 sword and sandal fantasy, but audiences still came out in droves to see Sam Worthington decapitate gorgons and crack krakens. Foregoing Ray Harryhausen's time-tested stop-motion effects, Louis Leterrier's Clash is built atop a Mount Olympus of CGI and some 3-D added in post. Luckily, the A-list cast adds a degree of gravitas to the spectacle. Worthington stars as chiseled demigod Perseus, Liam Neeson as dad Zeus, Alexa Davalos as damsel in distress Andromeda, and Ralph Fiennes as Hades, who goes the extra mile by making the lord of the underworld legitimately sinister.

Louis Leterrier---USA---2010---106 mins.
DAVID AND GOLIATH (WELLES)

GLADIATORS 7- SEVEN
Our Price: $19.95
Out of Stock

Not the seventh in a series, merely a head-count of our muscle-bound heroes.     "They fight as if they were 700," screamed the ads. Richard Harrison leads the   seven in a battle against the tyrannical Roman rulers. The Seven Samurai   gets transplanted again, this time to sword and sandal territory. Dubbed in    Pedro Lazaga---Spain/Italy---1962---80 mins.
GOLIATH & DRAGON
Our Price: $24.99
Out of Stock

A double-feature of muscles, maidens, and monsters! Goliath and the           Dragon (Vittorio Cottafavi, Italy/France, 1960, 86 mins.): Following the      box office success of the Steve Reeves-starring, Italian-made Hercules,    American distributors began buying up Italian sword-and-sandal epics to try    and cash in. This unintentionally hilarious film is far from the best of the   bunch, but it does offer a three-headed, fire-breathing doggie; a              man-squashing elephant; a wacky midget; and more muscle-man posing than any      one picture should be able to handle. With Mark Forest and Broderick Crawford. Next, Kirk Morris stars as Hercules in The Conqueror of Atlantis         (Alfonso Brescia, Italy, 1965, 91 mins.), as Herc finds the futuristic remains Vittorio Cottafavi/Alfonso Brescia---Italy/France---1960/1965---177 mins.

HERCULES IN NEW YORK
Our Price: $9.99
Out of Stock

Somewhere in between winning the title Mr. Universe and Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger made his film debut in this low-budget cult favorite. He plays the muscle-bound demigod, who travels down from Mt. Olympus to New York City, where he gets mixed up with a crooked wrestling promoter...with mixed results in terms of intentional comedy. Unintentionally, though, this is gold.

IMMORTALS (2011)
Our Price: $29.98
Out of Stock

If you watched the trailer for Immortals and shrugged it off as another clone of 300, we wouldn’t blame you. However, we should point out that this CGI sword-and-sandal epic was directed by a real visionary--Tarsem (The Cell, The Fall)--not Zack Snyder. In Roger Ebert’s words, “It involves, in a very broad sense, the attempt by King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) to conquer Greece, and the battle to stop him led by a plucky peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill)...But a lot of the time I had no idea what was going on. Characters would turn up for the first time, seem terrifically important, and disappear...There are no end of battle scenes, interminable and incomprehensible, in which beheading and skewering are routine...One image after another is gob-smacking...Without doubt the best-looking awful movie you will ever see. Eiko Ishioka's costume designs alone deserve an Oscar nomination.”

Tarsem Singh---USA---2011---110 mins.
