Four of Chaplin's greatest films are included in this set. The Gold Rush   (1925, 72 mins.) features some of the most famous images Chaplin brought to      the screen: the cooking of the shoe, the dinner roll dance, and the teetering    cabin in the wilderness. Modern Times (1936, 88 mins.) is a brilliant    commentary on the mechanisms of industrial society overtaking the individual.  Although it is often cited as Chaplin's last silent film, it makes inventive   use of music and sound effects. The Great Dictator (1940, 124 mins.),      Chaplin's first film with spoken dialogue, is a bold attack on Hitler and      fascism. Limelight (1952, 150 mins.) is Chaplin's final tribute to the   British dancehall of his youth and also stars Buster Keaton.                   Charles Chaplin---USA---1925-1952---434 mins.

Chaplin's first full-length film,    The Kid (1921, 68 mins.), tells the sentimental story of the Tramp   and   an abandoned child (Jackie Coogan) that he befriends. King in New York   (1957, 110 mins.), Chaplin's final film role, is a mocking satire of 1950's    America that stars Chaplin as an overthrown monarch who arrives penniless in   New York and eventually finds celebrity after a series of TV commercial  s,      while a child he befriends is persecuted because of the political leanings of  his parents. A Woman of Paris (1923, 90 mins.), Chaplin's first film to  not star himself, tells the tale of a woman who leaves her sweetheart behind   to marry a wealthy French aristocrat. Finally, the dark comedy, Mon

Charlie Chaplin's silent homage to the human spirit, in which Chaplin is the victim of industrial boom. He plays a factory worker gone looney by the assembly line, who falls in love with a down-and-out young lady and tries through various and eccentric means to find a bit of financial peace. A great comedy, and a great film.
