Description Technical Specs

Long before Ghost World and Crumb, Terry Zwigoff combined his love of rarefied blues and talent for documentary storytelling in Louie Bluie, a nonfiction portrait of Howard Armstrong. Known in the 1930s as "Louie Bluie," he played first fiddle in Martin, Bogan and the Armstrongs, an obscure black string band that built a cult audience well into the 1970s. Now a visual artist, Armstrong shares his rich life story, his richer music, and a good sense of humor with Zwigoff and crew. Nominated for a Grand Jury Prize at Sundance.

Terry Zwigoff---USA---1985---60 mins.
