In his second feature about the lives of Native Americans, Sterlin Harjo tells the tale of Frankie (Richard Ray Whitman), an elderly American Indian on his deathbed. Wanting to make peace with the family he abandoned, Frankie's former girlfriend (Casey Camp-Horineki) rescues him from the hospital and reluctantly agrees to drive him across the prairies of Oklahoma to make amends and die on Seminole land. Despite the obviously sad premise, Barking Water is a bittersweet road movie with quiet revelations to offer just about anyone.
