This bird-watching documentary might not exactly entertain the whole family, but it's more engaging than you'd think. Filmmaker Scott Crocker travels to Brinkley, Arkansas, after hearing news that someone spotted what looked like the extinct ivory-billed woodpecker back in 2004. As more and more bird enthusiasts and researchers flock to the area, local business picks up and everything is aces. Except for the woodpeckers in question, which might actually be an extant relative of a soon-to-be re-extinguished bird. "Ghost Bird uses testimony, history, and dialect-driven landscape to successfully infect us with the same awe-saturated curiosity that inspires the film's impassioned talking heads" (Slant Magazine).
