Description Technical Specs

After Man on Wire, James Marsh returns with another revealing documentary. This time, his subject is Nim Chimpsky, a chimpanzee made famous in the 1970s after being taken from the wild and brought to the New York research lab of behavioral psychologist Herbert Terrace. He and his team hypothesized that the extended exposure would help Nim communicate via sign language. Their theory was right, but to reach that new ground, it involved some very personal bonding between man and monkey that might turn some heads. Project Nim a wealth of 16mm and video research footage, in addition to polished reenactments of Nim's time at the lab and living with a family on the Upper West Side. Nominated for a British Independent Film Award for Best Documentary.
