Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt are two police officers investigating a baffling, gruesome collection of serial killings. Pitt is new to the big city, while Freeman is getting ready to retire from his hellish occupation. As they track down the murderer, they descend into an arena of moral mayhem where the ultimate victim is innocence. A fine thriller that, despite its grisly depictions of violence, manages to emerge as a serious contemplation of evil in the modern world.
