Herbert G. Ponting's chronicle of Captain Robert Scott's heroic and ultimately   tragic race for the South Pole was originally released in 1913. Ponting, a       renowned still photographer, dedicated his life to the memory of Scott, who      died with his entire team on the return trip from the pole after losing the    race to Amundsen. Twenty years after his friend's death, Ponting added         narration to the film, drawing from Scott's diary entries.
