Reportedly one of director Mehboob Khan's favorite films among his own work, this melodrama broke with convention by portraying a weak and cowardly anti-hero. Dilip Kumar stars as a lawyer who rapes a milkmaid and refuses to come forward when she suffers the consequences. His fiancee stands up for the girl, forcing the lawyer to face up to his crime.
