Michael Winterbottom's ambitious, stylistically raw, digital video feature covers the Manchester music scene of the late '70s and '80s through the eyes of colorful TV personality, club owner and Factory Records founder Tony Wilson (comic Steve Coogan, excelling in a role tailor-made for him). The emergence of such influential bands as Joy Division, New Order and The Happy Mondays is played against the rise of the rave culture and the Factory scene's eventual crumbling.
