At a seashore village,       high seas prevent a fishing boat from returning. Soon the village is filled      with a growing number of widows, including Haesun, who lives with her          mother-in-law. Despondent over the loss of her husband, Haesun begins a        relationship with Seongku and they marry and move to the mainland. Then        Seongku is drafted and Haesun must return to her hometown where she begins to    lose touch with reality.
