In Chabrol's New Wave set-piece, Federique is a rich and fashionable lesbian who encounters a young, bohemian sidewalk artist named Why. They escape together to St. Tropez for Christmas where Why ends up in bed with the young architect, Paul. Tension between the three escalates when they co-habit Federique's villa. As Paul's affections lean toward Federique, Why begins a jealous transformation that culminates in a deadly conclusion. In French with English subtitles.
