Description

Robert Whitman is one of the most influential and simultaneously one of the      least-known performance and installation artists from the 1960s. This DVD        captures for the viewer some of the most important early examples of Whitman's   work. Included is original footage of The American Moon (1960) and       Flower, both filmed by Whitman as notes to himself, and short            documentaries about the works, featuring interviews with Trisha Brown, Jim     Dine, Simone Forti, Claes Oldenburg, Lucas Samaras, and the artist. A 2001       performance of Prune Flat (1965) is accompanied by an interview with     Whitman on the piece. A bonus video presents Whitman's 2002 theater work       Ghost, with comments by Lynne Cooke and Arne Glimcher.
