This Jaime Humberto Hermosillo film, which won a handful of 1976 Ariel Awards, weaves a web of passion and suspense. Young Berenice (Martha Navarro) is a mystery to her fellow townspeople. A recent widow, she lives with her godmother and has a scar across her face. She and her sickly godmother, a moneylender, leave their home only on Sundays to go to church and the movies. Through a chance encounter, though, Berenice meets Rodrigo, a handsome young doctor who awakens her dormant passions. As romance blossoms, it becomes clear to him that Berenice harbors some secrets.
