Description

Michael J. Shannon's experimental video portrait of the San Francisco Bay subculture is a politically and aesthetically adventurous work of "grassroots journalism". The film takes viewers on a taxi tour of the city's obligatory tourist stops (Golden Gate Park, Coit Tower, etc.) and simultaneously offers a view of the city's lower profile subcultures: artists, activists, hippies, punks, and others. The film aims to "stand in opposition to the corporate paradigm" and show a side of San Francisco Bay life that has been systematically excluded from mainstream media. Featuring interviews with Helen Caldecott, Amy Goodman, Jesse Jackson, Ruben "Hurricane" Carter, and others, SF TimeCap is a fast-paced, multi-faceted documentary.
