A Japanese salary man is sent to investigate a claim of jade in a small          Chinese village. Guided by an elderly explorer, he is led on a spiritual         adventure that changes his fundamental view of life. Prolific director Takashi   Miike takes a sojourn from ultraviolent filmmaking (Ichi The Killer)     with this sensitively rendered drama. Rather than dazzling with extreme sex    and violence, Miike finds ways to arrest his viewers with lush cinematography  and emotional warmth.
