Enormously popular when first released, this musical has evolved into a cult film thanks to nostalgic viewers revisiting the youthful years when they first saw it. The movie version of the play that got its start in Chicago stars a 24-year-old John Travolta and 30-year-old Olivia Newton-John as California high schoolers from opposite sides of the tracks. Their equally adult-aged class members include Jeff Conaway, Stockard Channing, and Didi Conn. A high energy, tune-filled romp that also stars Eve Arden, Sid Caesar, Frankie Avalon, Joan Blondell and Edd "Kookie" Byrnes. Never a critic's favorite, "Grease" is still the word and the word is still fun.
