Like 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days after it, this Cannes success story deals with life under Ceausescu's brutal rule, albeit from a sunnier perspective. Set in 1989, The Way I Spent the End of the World focuses on a 17-year-old girl (Dorotheea Petre) who gets expelled from school and sent away to a reformatory for accidentally breaking a bust of Ceausescu. This leaves her little brother (Timotei Duma) alone back home, where he plots an irrational revenge against the dictator. Executive produced by Martin Scorsese and Wim Wenders.
