Description Technical Specs

This hour-long documentary takes up the legal battle fought by two elderly sisters, Carrie and Mary Dann. As members of the Western Shoshone community, they live on a private ranch within a 60-million acre area of Western Shoshone territory. Despite being recognized by the government, federal agents repeatedly came to round up the sisters' livelihood--hundreds of horses and cattle--for the crime of grazing on their ancestral open range. American Outrage argues that the government wants them off the land because of the gold deposits below, while Human Rights Watch attests to some "masterful storytelling, beautiful cinematography, and unforgettable characters."
