Description Technical Specs

This combo pack is made up of three documentaries from three distinct auteurs that reveal the nonfiction format is about more than a cold, hard collection of facts and figures. In Waiting for Fidel (1974, 58 mins.), Michael Rubbo and two associates wind up in a strange limbo, waiting days on end to meet with Fidel Castro. Their wait itself becomes the subject of the film, as the men embark on a wide-ranging, often humorous, and powerfully compelling dialogue on Cuba, Canada, socialism, capitalism, and many other issues. More confession than traditional documentary, Late Night Talks with Mother (2001, 68 mins.) finds Czech New Wave director Jan Nemec revisiting his life as he unravels the threads of his difficult relationship with his mother. Voyage in Time (1983, 63 mins.) is a personal documentary that captures the great Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky at a crossroads in his life. Unable to work in the Soviet Union and separated from his family, he faces an uncertain future as he waits in Italy for word of a new project. In Czech, Italian, Russian, Spanish, and English with English subtitles.
