Acting for Film

July 10 - 14, 2017
9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Ages 8-14
at Greenhouse Theater Center (2257 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago)

In this one-of-a-kind week-long film camp, students learn the specific techniques of acting on camera. The best acting teachers, film educators and filmmakers collaborate to provide each participant with a solid film acting foundation. Students will learn the grammar of film, study dramatic scenes in workshop-style sessions, practice on camera, and work in groups to show off their newly learned film acting talent in short videos.

When registering, please include your child's name & age in the NOTES section.

The Facets Kids Film Camp summer enrichment program introduces kids ages 714 to the techniques, language and process of filmmaking. Film educators, filmmakers, and respected critics provide guidance in what it takes to understand, create and analyze film.

Through screenings, discussions, and creative, hands-on exercises that include making a movie and opinion writing, participants will learn:

  • Film appreciation, film vocabulary, and early film history.
  • Basic film production techniques (story development, types of shots, composition, screenwriting, storyboarding, acting, casting, lighting, sound, editing, directing, production safety and communication).
  • Written and verbal critique and review.
