Description

Susana, a steamy melodrama, marked an early highlight of Luis Bunuel’s early career in Mexico.

Susana (1951), a steamy melodrama from master Luis Buñuel, shows what happens when lust threatens to tear a family apart. Shortly after escaping from prison, Susana winds up at a farm where she asks for shelter and employment. The men of the house gladly accept but are soon pitted against each other in a battle for Susana’s affections.

A highlight of Buñuel’s early work in Mexico, Susana nestles the director’s career-spanning interests into a sensual and cautionary tale of unchained temptation.
