Description
Zach Braff returns to post-metaphysical romance in
The Last Kiss
, but with a greater sense of humor than his
Garden State
. Braff plays Michael, a hipster with a pregnant girlfriend (Jacinda Barrett) and an ever-nearing 30th birthday, both of which send him into crisis mode. While attending a wedding, he finds his friends, played by Casey Affleck and Eric Christian Olsen, are facing similar not-quite-midlife dilemmas. Michael then meets a smart, sexy college student, played by Rachel Bilson (
The O.C.
), who inevitably complicates his already troubling "get married and grow up" course. Tony Goldwyn directs with "a precise appreciation for those moments when life forces into the open the unhappiness you've been stubbornly sitting on for years" (
Village Voice
). Screenplay by Paul Haggis.
Tony Goldwyn---USA---2006---115 mins.
