Description
The first fiction feature from documentarian Piotr Trzaskalski is a warm-hearted story about Edi, a homeless scrap-dealer who ekes out a meager living with his simple-minded comrade, Juri, in modern-day capitalist Poland. Edi's prospects improve when he meets two toughs in the liquor business who hire him to look after their beautiful teenage sister. However, this young girl leads a more complicated life than her brothers realize, and Edi gets caught in the middle. Henryk Golebiewski's touching performance as the long-suffering Edi distinguishes this film, while Trzaskalski creates a melancholy atmosphere worthy of Robert Bresson or Andrei Tarkovsky, the director's key influences. In Polish with English subtitles.
