Description
Many nature documentaries make the mistake of ignoring the villagers who live in Africa and navigate the dangers and costs of coexisting with wildlife. Two of the world's oldest cattle-cultures--the Masai and the Himba--have actually suffered from the conservation efforts imposed on them by whites. This Kartemquin film looks at how some villagers have embraced eco-tourism, which focuses on community-based conservation that balances the needs of the people with that of the wildlife. In Masai, Ojihimba, and English with English Subtitles.
David E. Simpson---USA---2008---83 mins.
