Dariush Mehrjui adapts Henrik Ibsen's play, A Doll's House, into this modern Iranian drama about Sara (Nick Karimi), the submissive, friendly wife of a respectable banker (Amin Tarokh). Her ideal facade hides a secret from years past, though. When her husband was ill, she had borrowed dirty money to pay for his expensive treatment. Ever since, she has been repaying the loan behind his back for fear of hurting his pride. Now, for reasons beyond her control, this burden is about to end. Winner of a Golden Seashell at the 1993 San Sebastian Film Festival. In Persian with English subtitles.
