Description
In our collective memory, Joan of Arc is the teenage shepherd girl who was burned at the stake in Rouen after saving France from the English. But long-buried 15th-century documents suggest another story. At the time of the execution, many people questioned the events at Rouen, insisting another girl was burned instead. Documentary filmmaker and musician Martin Meissonnier (
Life of Buddha
) revisits the story of the world's most famous martyr to discern the real Joan of Arc. Also known as
Jeanne d'Arc, la Contre-Enquete
and
Vraie Jeanne, Fausse Jeanne
. In English and French with English subtitles.
Martin Meissonnier---France---2008---90 mins.
